The urban canopy model could reproduce typical temporal change of heat fluxes in sunny days over urban canopy with and without vegetation. During consecutive sunny days, daytime sensible heat flux did not show rapid increase from day to day over the modeled urban canopy with vegetation. Analysis of the model simulation clearly indicated this was due to the vegetation's ability to subtract water in deep soil layer and to use it for evapo-transpiration. Another interesting feature found in the simulation with the vegetation case was that vegetation canopy forms cool island through development of relatively cool mixed layer with large turbulence, associated with drag and strong wind shear by vegetation, and small sensible heat flux from the canopy to upper layer.
