Warehouses are remarkably concentrated in the three areas of Konan, Kohoku and Koga. They were established mainly in the high economic growth period and the short period following it. Almost equal number of them are headquartered within and outside the prefecture, respectively, with the operating body specialized in transportation. Majority of their cargo originates in factories in the prefecture, with the destination extending to nationwide wholesalers, retailers, and distribution centers. An overwhelming number of warehouses are directly connected with factories. Thus, the storage type of most warehouses is that of the production site.
