This paper shows an attempt to revise the syllabus for a certain course in our junior college - Economics-B course in Hokkaido College, Senshu University - through evaluation from the viewpoint of our particular teaching context and literature review especially in the areas of Second Language Acquisition (SLA). The investigation was made based on the syllabus which had been effective till the end of the previous academic year, and some of the suggestions made here are now under way. Firstly, I looked into how the term 'syllabus' can be defined. Next, describing the syllabus of 'English' for the students in the course, I attempted an honest evaluation from the viewpoint of SLA theories and research findings with the goal set for the course in mind. Finally, with a view to searching for some effective way of developing students' reading comprehension, I tried to make some practical suggestions to improve the syllabus.
