This paper describes the flow characteristics around a rotating cylinder. The purpose of this research is to clarify the characteristics of lift and drag forces, strouhal number, flow patterns behind the cylinder in terms of the spin rate ratio by numerical and experimental analyses. In this study, the spin rate ratio is varied from 0 to 1.0 for Reynolds number Re=60000 and 140000. Although the present study has clarified the flow characteristic of the rotating cylinder, the negative Magnus effect has not been explained by the numerical calculation.
