This study describes the shear capacity of concrete beams reinforced with fiber reinforced plastic rods, called FRP rods. The shear tests on beam models were carried out, most of which were subjected to cyclic loading. The test variables were type and the shear reinforcement ratio of FRP rods, and mode of failure obtained under monotonic loading. In the beams whose failure mode was concrete crushing under monotonic loading, the shear capacity reduced 10 to 20% under cyclic loading. On the other hand, in the beams whose failure mode was breaking of stirrups, the shear capacity decreased in some beams and increased in other beams. For this reason, in concrete beams reinforced with FRP rods, the shear capacity obtained experimentally under cyclic loading does not always mean conservative estimation. The modified "Arakawa's method" can generally estimate the shear capacity conservatively either in monotonic or cyclic loading, but the modified "method A" overestimated the shear capacity obtained under cyclic loading, where the above two original methods have been used for estimating the shear capacity of conventional reinforced concrete members.
