On Accurate Numerical Solutions of the Unsteady Boundary Layer Flow around a Circular Cylinder

The two-dimensional unsteady boundary layer flow of an incompressible viscous fluid around a circular cylinder, which is started impulsively from rest, is considered. Numerical solutions of unsteady boundary layer equation are sought by employing the local non-similarity solution method together with the difference-differential method. By using the multi-equation model, accurate numerical solutions up to the angular distance 70°from the front of the cylinder with an accuracy about 10^<-4> in absolute magnitude can be obtained.
