The problems associated with the calibration process of the electrostatic analyzers for the quantitative utilization are, aften, the ion source, the detector, and the measuring system. A simple ion source to fit such process was selected and calibrated. It gave a linear relation between the electron emission current and the output ion current. The Daly-type detector was used and its characteristic curves are plotted. The absolute amplification factors for both the target and the scintillator are deduced at different target potentials. Finally, the counting method was applied. It showed linearity for comparatively small currents after which it was saturated due to the pile up problem.
