Extreme ultraviolet spectrograph detector systems which use a microchannel plate intensifier fiber-optically coupled to a linear silicon diode array will be described. Typically such systems have 1024 pixels and time resolutions ≳ 1ms. Results from recent diagnostic studies on large plasma devices with spectrographs and detectors of this type will be presented. A two dimensional detector system to provide simultaneous spectral and spatial coverage with a time resolution of ∿ 5ms is under construction. The optical and detector design will be described as well as the expected performance. A photon counting image intensifier detector system has been constructed for ion-temperature/velocity-distribution measurements utilizing the doppler effect. Such a system requires very rapid readout electronics for the 128 pixel array, a high gain Z type microchannel plate configuration and a sufficiently high strip current plate to make thermal runaway a danger. The disign considerations and expected performance of the system will be discussed.
