Dependence of absorbed rf power on the diameter of plasma column was examined experimentally in the density region of 10^<11>cm^<-3>-2×10^<12>cm^<-3>, using QP machine. When we set absorbed rf power P is proportional to a^γ (a is the diameter of plasma column), calculation on uniform plasma column shows γ=4. However, experimental value of γ was less than 2. It is shown that effect of inhomogeneous density profile makes γ lower than 2 and that density profile is important to heat a plasma efficiently.
