This paper deals with the type 2 fuzzy equations having both properties of type 2 fuzzy sets and fuzzy equations, and show the methods for solving the type 2 fuzzy equations. We introduce the concept of weak equality which leads us to treating the wide range problems expressed by the type 2 fuzzy sets. Finally, we show that the solution obtained using the methods in this paper is a greatest solution in the set of the solutions which satisfy the original equation by means of the weak equality.
