The permanent tooth crowns of four adult or subadult individuals and the deciduous tooth crowns of an infant were recovered from the square-shaped moated burial precincts of the Middle phase of the Yayoi period at the Sena site in Shizuoka. PENROSE's distance analyses of the mesiodistal and buccolingual crown diameters showed that all the five specimens were akin to the immigrant Yayoi people in the westernmost part of Japan, rather than to the aboriginal Jomon people, in the absolute tooth size or in the proportion of tooth sizes. Though meager, this is the first bioanthroplogical evidence of the people of the immigrant descent that has been found in moated burial precincts in the eastern half of Honshu.
