Living organisms mostly act in various types of regular rhythms. About the effects of the extrinsic and intrinsic factors on the cycles of the actions repeated argument has been accumulated. Many animals and plants are apt to act in 24 hour cycle according as the rotation of the earth. Of the cycles, the female menstrual cycle and pregnant period have been regarded to be in interesting relation to lunar periodicity. In this paper attention was focused on the relationship of the lunar periodicity (lunar calendar) to the date of birth, and the number of the registers of births of Osaka Prefecture in 1975 (150,404 in total) was examined statistically : Any correlation was not found to exist between the lunar periodicity and the birth rate. However, the day of the week and the variation of birth rate had relation with each other ; the number of the registers of births was smallest on Sundays and became large on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Besides, not only on Sundays but also on holidays and in the end and beginning of the year the decrease in number of birth was noted.
