In cooling type batch cristallization, the influence of undersaturaion operation on crystal size distribution (CSD) was investigated by computational calculation. The model considers primary and secondary nucleation rate, size dependent growth rate, and dissolution rate limited by mass transfer which has also crystal size dependency determined by FrÖossling type equation. The population balance equation was directly solved by computational simulation by Cubic Interpolated Pseudo-particle method. The simulation successfully reproduced the experimental results in order of average crystal size in different temperature profiles. The model was efficient to evaluate the influence of undersaturation operation on CSD. The influence of the frequency and the timing of introducing undersaturaion on CSD was also discussed.
