IBM UCL (Ubiquitous Computing Lab) launched an advanced technology based project which is named "Development of Open Telematics Portal Software Infrastructure and Data Composition." The objective of this project is to revitalize the telematics industry through an open portal infrastructure which will expand the market with the cost effectiveness and time to market. The market expansion will include the benefit for all content providers, carrier providers, telematics platform providers and other IT companies. As a 4 year project, there are 3 stages: OTPSI infrastructure, telematics service utility and telematics global hub. Core services and an integrated development environment are designed and implemented at the first stage. At the second stage, each service's scalability issues and utility measure issues will be treated. And finally inter-operation issues between OTPSI-based platforms will be solved and will be evolved into telematics global hub.
