In this paper, we propose an ontology-based context model in ubiquitous computing environments. We describe context information as three core concepts: Entity, contextType, and Value. Since an ontology-based context model represents not only concepts but also logical relationship ps of the contexts, it is easy for machines to automate logical inference and to share context information. The model categorizes entities by their characteristics, and coherent entities belong to one ontology module. This modularization of the context model makes the model reusable and extensible, and the model provides users with user-friendly and intuitive vocabularies.
