Experimental results of the susceptibility, the Knight shift and the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate suggest that the tetragonal intemetallic compound with linear chains of Mn atoms, YMn_4Al_8, has a narrow pseudogap in the spin excitation spectrum. This compound may be another candidate of a 3d transition metal compound with a correlated gap similar to FeSi.
