High-Pressure Studies on the Superconducting Spin-Ladder Compound Sr_<14-x>Ca_xCu_<24>O_<41+δ>

Superconductivity has been observed in a spin-ladder compound Ca<SUB>13. 6</SUB>Sr<SUB>0. 4</SUB>Cu<SUB>24</SUB>O<SUB>41+δ</SUB> having Cu<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> ladder-layer. Electrical resistivity measurements show T<SUB>c</SUB> appears at 7 K at 1. 5 GPa and disappears above 6 GPa after having maximum T<SUB>c</SUB> of 12 K at 3 GPa. The bulk superconductivity was confirmed by AC susceptibility measurements. The electrical resistivity measurements for single crystals are also performed. The anisotropy of the electrical resistivity between a-axis and c-axis are reduced under pressure.
